Enterprise Backup Administrator (Schenectady)

Successful candidate will provide Project and Operations support of CommVault, Netbackup, and Avamar backup platforms in a global enterprise level environment.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Work with the project teams to upgrade/install CommVault clients and master servers.
  • Work with Project managers and the Operations backup team to develop and maintain proper monitoring and reporting of utilization of the backup environment, including installing software, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and throughput analysis; media handling.
  • Work with the OS Support teams to resolve any O/S, hardware, or network based issues that may impact optimal performance of backup.
  • Assist in maintain offsite repositories and Disaster Recovery (DR)Testing and implementation of new releases or maintenance fix packs of CommVault, VERITAS and EMC software
  • Create report status of backup environment for management as needed.

POSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 to 7 years hands-on experience in an enterprise level Server environment including Windows and UNIX infrastructures with Backup and Storage admin responsibility as the primary focus including proven CommVault, Avamar and/or Veritas Netbackup experience.
  • Veritas Netbackup
  • CommVault
  • Experience with Sun Solaris and other UNIX platforms including Linux
  • MS Windows Server Experience
  • Experience with Enterprise Server infrastructures
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and general leadership skills
  • Demonstrated success in working directly with internal customers, vendors and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work with little direction or supervision and deliver results that are on-time and ‘First time right’

Experience with any of the following is a plus

  • Experience with HP Service Desk
  • Storage management and administration including San and NAS environments
  • HA and Cluster experience
  • Veritas (Volume Manager, Filesystem, Cluster)
